Digital 3D movies at the Galaxy Drive In Theatre!

Here at the Galaxy Drive In Theatre we have invested quite a bit of money and time into bringing 3D movies to the outdoor screen. As far as we know we are the first drive-in theatre in the world to show outdoor digital 3D movies.    This page will provide you with information to help you enjoy the outdoor 3D movie experience.

• 3D movies will be shown on screen 4 and screen 5.
• 3D admission is per screen, $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for all kids 11 and under.
• 3D glasses are the property of the Galaxy Drive In and must be returned at the end of the evening.
• When you buy your tickets for 3D movies at the box office, the 3D surcharge will be added at that time.
• If you are buying your tickets online in advance, then you must also select the 3D surcharge for the total number in your party.
• As you enter the Screen 1 or 5 field, an attendant will hand out the number of 3D glasses specified on your ticket.
• When you leave you will exit the same way you entered, and return all of the 3D glasses to the attendant.

Why are we having to charge extra for 3D movies?

• Every theatre is required to charge the 3D surcharge. All patrons viewing the 3D movie must pay the $2 surcharge, including kids under 5 admitted free and anyone using movie passes for admission.
• There are several types of 3D technology that indoor theatres use and several types of glasses. Because we are an outdoor theatre the only type that will work here is Dolby 3D. The Dolby 3D glasses cost $20.00 per pair, not the disposable $1.00 per pair type that RealD uses. Master Image or RealD glasses will not work with Dolby 3D.
• Dolby 3D glasses feature high-quality multicoated glass lenses with a special curvature that delivers outstanding 3D images. Dolby even went so far as to study the shapes and forms of faces so you'll experience a comfortable fit that lets you focus on the movie, not on the glasses. Even better, Dolby 3D glasses help you do your part to reduce waste by simply returning your glasses at the end of the movie.
• The glasses are sanitized after each use as required by health code.
